Sparkles in her eyes

    Picking up jacks
    and singing a tune
    bent down on one knee
    while watching her bloom
    smiling ear to ear
for the sparkles in her eyes
how grand to be a Father
oooh much more than I ever realized

    Sitting in the hall
    just outside her door
    it's her first sleep over
    and now 1/4 past four
    all night long
like chickens running from a fox
    gabity gab gab gab
    time has opened Pandora's box

    Twenty minutes alone
    just this boy and me
    promised to be good
but I really don't want to be
    is the first school dance
for others so hard to bare
    she better finish dressing quick
or me and promises just won't care

    All dressed in white
for a wedding to take place
my eyes fight to hold back
    rivers from my face
    smiling ear to ear
for the sparkles in her eyes
how grand to be a Father
oooh much more than I ever realized
